Information 2010 - 2011 Season
Dear Parents and Students,
On behalf of the Thornhill School of Ballet faculty, we would like to congratulate all the students for a fantastic performance. We would also like to thank all of the parents, guardians, and audience for being so supportive this season. We have received a number of compliments and positive comments of what a wonderful recital we have produced this year. We could not have done it without the students’ hard work and dedication and their parents’ continued support. Again, Thornhill School of Ballet extends a big Thank You!
Congratulations to all of our Royal Academy of Dance candidates for taking their RAD exams. It was amazing to see the progress our candidates have made since their last appearance in front of the RAD examiner last spring. All our students did a fantastic job and should be proud of their achievements.
If you are looking for a Ballet program that offers learning along with fun and a feeling of accomplishment; the RAD Ballet program is perfect. The RAD Syllabus has been devised with great care. It progresses a dancer in stages, demanding no more of a young body that it can easily cope with. The RAD Syllabus is great fun for dancers to dance; it also helps develop co-ordination, fitness, and a sense of rhythm, musicality and expression, as well as promoting self-discipline and boosting confidence. If you would like your child to participate in the Royal Academy of Dance exams, please let us know upon registration.
Sheila Samain and Elina Bagshaw, both very reputable RAD registered teachers, will be holding summer classes for those who wish to attempt the RAD exam in Spring 2011. Classes are being held August 16 – 19 and August 23 – 26. The schedule is as follows:
Grade 3 9:30am – 11:00am $120.00 (Aug. 16 - 19 and Aug. 23 - 26)
Grade 5 11:00am – 12:30pm $120.00 (Aug. 16 - 19 and Aug. 23 - 26)
Grade 7 9:30am – 12:30pm $240.00 (Aug. 16 - 19 and Aug. 23 - 26)
RAD summer classes are mandatory for all students who wish to apply for the RAD exam. Again, please contact the school for more information or register online here.
This year we have added a bonus to the DVDs. There are 15 winning DVDs hidden among the recital packages. Please check your DVD to see if it is a WINNER and call us to claim you prize. You will be required to provide the winning word upon collection of the prize. Best of luck to all!
The recital DVDs, photos, yearbooks, and exam results are available for pick up during registration or by special appointment.
